Computer Literacy Program for Elem. School Children

When we say Literacy, It is the quality or a state of being in being literate in some other aspects example here in writing and reading. And also a person who has a knowledge in a particular field. In this generation now a days. We all know that computers are now really useful in some many ways. For making projects, doing the job easy. So, in making this far, there is this study about the Computer Literacy Program for Elem. School. In Some cases, I have noticed that many of the schools don’t have computers. Especially the public schools. I also noticed that the school who have computers are those school which is private which mostly parents sent their children their enable to have their child a good future. I was very disappointed to that matter in which public schools doesn’t have their computers for them to be literate about it. We all know that computers are known for gathering data, information, and make the work easier. But now in Elementary students, it is important for them to be trained on computer literacy. For them to cope up on what’s in. And also to know the importance of technology. I have red an article on a one site which tells about the literacy about computer, which the country of Sri Lanka who donated 30 used computers in rural schools. And here is this project that coordinated by Deshan Nanayakkara, one of the US coordinators of the Empower Village. And personally took these to Sri Lanka and trained students and teachers fro two weeks on computer literacy. The Advantage of this project is that many students were helped by Mr. Nanayakkara, It is really advantage to learn computer at the early age for us many students could make something new on our technology right now. One problematic element of many (though not all) "computer literacy" or computer education programs is that they may resort too heavily on rote memorization. Students may be taught, for example, how to perform several common functions (e.g.: Open a file, Save a file, Quit the program) in very specific ways, using one specific version of one specific program. When a graduate of such a program encounters a competing program, or even a different version of the same program, they may be confused or even frightened by the differences from what they learned.
Computers may have some Advantage and disadvantage on elementary students. First to tackle the advantage. Advantage f this is that you can make this task easier. Students can easily surf on the net if ever they have some projects. To think computer made our life easier. The disadvantage also is that computer may be destroying the studies of each student. Especially those who are addict on it. That will distract on students future. We all know now a days, many online games are implemented so there will be possible happen that the student will be tempted on it. The student can’t go to school anymore instead of staying in the café just to play online games spending their money in a non important thing.
To be implemented this computer literacy in the Philippines; we all know that many public schools can’t afford to buy computers for the sake on this program. But it is really important to have computers on their school so that students will learn more things about computer. I might wondering what does the government doing. It is their responsibility to take good care of the public schools. Why it that they don’t donate any computers in is schools at least one computer, so that the students just have some activity on it. So that in the future students may be able to have a good curriculum in their school. Although it’s not that good at least they have experience on what the importance of computers. And also to be able to know the basic functions on it.
